Everything is optional

Did you know that a first trimester ultrasound is a personal decision and not a requirement? In fact, every single routinely offered test, procedure and screening during pregnancy and birth is optional. Not mandatory. As with any decision about your individualized care, you deserve to ask questions. To receive information. To consider the risks and benefits. This is how you decide what is right for you and your family.

A first trimester ultrasound might be particularly useful if you have long or irregular cycles and are unsure of your due date. If you are anxious about miscarriage and would like to see the baby's heartbeat. Or if you would like to participate in genetic screening tests. I'm here to provide you with the information, but the choices are always yours, mama.
