What gets the baby in, gets the baby out
I'm sure many of you have heard the phrase what gets the baby in, gets the baby out - and it's true! Sex can actually induce labor in a few ways with oxytocin, semen and orgasm.
First and foremost, oxytocin, better known as the love hormone, is released when you are intimate. It's what's responsiblefor contracting the uterus during labor.
Then we have semen. Semen contains a substance called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins act to soften and ready the cervix for labor.
And last (but never least) is the big O. Orgasm involves a rapid contraction of your pelvic floor muscles, which can kickstart your labor. As you can imagine, when all 3 are involved, it can really get things going. But ultimately, if your body isn't ready, it isn't ready and even sex might not work.
