Round Ligament Pain

Did you know that during pregnancy the round ligaments stretch 6x their original size? Because of this, women can develop significant pain. This is especially common during the second trimester.

Round ligament pain presents as a sharp, crampy, or jabbing type of pain in the lower belly or hip area that can be on one or both sides. Some women even report that their pain extends down into the groin. This is due to the ligaments insertion on the labia majora. Round ligament pain is considered a normal part of pregnancy.

But, just because it is considered normal, doesn't mean you have to suffer from it. Round ligament pain is treatable! (Reason number 972 why it's hugely beneficial to have a birth doula who is also a pelvic floor therapist as a part of your team) Seriously mamas, if you're suffering from this, send me an email or call! I got you.
